Timing is everything

We do our best to provide a quick turnaround time for repairs. Many minor repairs can be done while you wait, and lots of others can be ready for you within 24 hours. Even if your bike repair requires ordering parts, we can usually get stuff for you within a couple days.

Don’t live in Ottumwa? Call ahead and make an appointment. We will work on your bike while you wander around Downtown, go to Quincy Place Mall for the afternoon, or hang out in the store.

MINI TUNE-UP – $25 (Off-season November–February – $20)

A basic check of the bike to make sure it is operational and safe to ride.

Check and adjust the brakes

Check and adjust the shifters

Inspect brake pads for wear

Inspect tire wear and inflate to proper pressure

Check chain for wear and lubricate if necessary

Make sure everything that should be tight, is tight

Visual inspection of frame and fork

Wipe off frame and fork

Replacement parts and additional installation fees extra

Tune-up surcharge for recumbents/tandems – $10

 

KIDS’ BIKE TUNE-UP – $30 (Off-season November–February – $25)

Annual tune-up for a child’s bike.

Mini tune-up plus:

Adjust bike fittings for growth

Replacement parts and additional installation fees extra

 

BASIC TUNE-UP – $45 (Off-season November–February – $40)

Common annual maintenance for your bike.

Mini tune-up plus:

Check and adjust all bearings (hubs, crankset/bottom bracket, headset)

Minor wheel truing (on-bike)

Wipe off wheels and components

Lube cables and pivot points

Replacement parts and additional installation fees extra

Tune-up surcharge for recumbents/tandems – $10

 

STANDARD TUNE-UP – $65 (Off-season November–February – $55)

Basic tune-up plus:

Precision wheel truing (off-bike)

Clean drivetrain (chain, cogs, derailleurs, etc.)

Tire/tube installation fees included

Replacement parts and additional installation fees extra

Tune-up surcharge for recumbents/tandems – $10

 

PERFORMANCE TUNE-UP – $85 (Off-season November–February – $70)

Standard tune-up plus:

Brake/shift cable and housing installation fees included

Brake pad installation fees included

Handlebar grips/tape installation fees included

Replacement parts and additional installation fees extra

Tune-up surcharge for recumbents/tandems – $10

 

PREMIUM TUNE-UP – $150 (Off-season November–February – $125)

Performance tune-up plus:

Strip bike to bare frame and completely clean frame and all components

Clean and re-grease all bearing areas

All parts installation fees included

Replacement parts extra

Adjust brakes/fix squeaking noise – $3.50 per caliper

Install and adjust brake pads – $4 per caliper

Install and adjust brake levers (upright/flat/riser bar bike) – $5 per lever

WHEEL REPAIRS

Inflate tires – Free

Replace tire/tube – Off-bike $3, Front $4, Rear $5

Drill presta rim to fit schraeder valve – $5 per rim

Glue tubular – $15

Adjust hub bearings – $5/per wheel

Clean and re-grease ball-bearing hub – $10/front, $12/rear, $15/coaster brake

Replace freehub body – $15

True wheel (price varies with amount of work needed) – $5-$25/each

Replace broken spoke – $15 (add $1 for each additional spoke – $35 max)

Build wheel (includes spoke thread prepping) – $35/single, $60/pair

Wheel building class (2-3 sessions, 2 student max) – $100 per student

DRIVETRAIN SYSTEM

Adjust bottom bracket (ball bearing) – $5-$15

Clean and re-grease bottom bracket (ball bearing) – $15

Frame painting (We have experience with many talented and affordable bicycle painters. We can help get your favorite bike back to new or better appearance)
